The Mystery of Existance

About half a year ago i started work on one of my many Things Change projects. Initially the real purpose for this project was to fine tune my skills with SONY Acidexpress, which is a very good remixing tool. The Mystery of Existance project started to take shape, after an obsurd number of elevated nights spent messing around with some trippy songs. The first remix i did was of the Mew song Symmetry. It's a very subtle remix, which ended up very trippy. This inspired me to work even more on creating these trippy layered remixes. A month and an ounce later i had the final product. A combination of M83, Mew, Bjork, Dntel, Death Cab, and original things change additives = The Mystery of Existance. Totaling at 18 minutes 42 seconds long, the song is an entrancing experience. It has a very soft dreary tone all the way through. It may not be an instant love, but if the conditions are right (i.e. tripping out in your bed) you will thank me.

Note* The track work is not 100% complete so there are a few abrupt volume changes that i will fix at some point. So sorry about that.

Song #1 Coming Home

I started working on this song right after my spring break. It took me a long time to get the little "jack in the box" noises to sound good, which are the highlight for the song. I then just added some filler noise, and messed around with my new keyboard. I dont know if the song really has a "flow," but i like it anyway. It does have a solid tone though. Oh yeah and the end, i dont know why i added distortion. This song is still a work in progress i guess.

Song #2 Tuff Ghost Remix

The Unicorns may actually be favorite band. So i was bored, and a wonderful idea popped into my head. "Why don't I try and remix Tuff Ghost!" So i sat down, with my keyboard, my MPC, Sony Acid Express, and good ol' Reason, and got to work. I only spent a few hours on this, but i think i did pretty good. It starts off kind of boring, and more or less not very good. Halfway through-ish the beats come in hard, and you can get your freak on. It's a bit generic dancey, but i was kind of aiming for that. I wanted Tuff Ghost + mainstream dance club.

Hifana music video + other inspiration

I don't feel like going into detail and explaining who Hifana are. Just know that they are two Japanese DJ's, and they make some of the most impressive music you'll ever hear. Upon hearing Hifana's music most assume they composed it all on a computer....but they dont. They make all their music using only turntables and MPC's, which is just mind boggling. In my opinion they are the absolute best at what they do. I envy them.

Now watch their video, it is one of the best music videos i've ever seen. The graphic work is just insane. Directed by +cruz, based out of London.

In other news, i watched Donny Darko yesterday and it inspired me to put together a song. I used some existing grooves i had made a while back, and I just mashed them up. I also used some effects on this song. I suggest listening to it when you are chilling out, or very high. Close your eyes, by the end you will feel like you are falling.

Remastered Songs

This weekend was basically the shit. I saw V for Vendetta, I saw The Go Team!, and there were some amazing NCAA bracket dramas. On a more boring note, i spent the rest of my weekend mastering some of my songs! One of them is more of a remix of a song i put together last year. Which at the time only really consisted of some funky techno trash. I added the wonderful electric piano that the song now starts with, and reworked some of the beats. I'm actually very happy with how it came out, but i'm still not sure if i would say this track is "complete." I also finished up a song that i have been strugling with for the past month. Thanks my friend Dereks suggestions to go towards a more "organic" sound, i decided to expanded my instrument base a little more on this track. I also crafted what i think is my best DnB beat to date.

The First Post!

First off, i'm going to explain what exactly "Things Change" is. Things Change is my name for the electronic music i create. I've been making electronic music under the name Things Change for quite some time now. I have many songs that sadly no one really hears....but now that is all going to change. This blog is pretty much just for my friends at Good Weather for Airstrikes, and All Things Go (i'm a writer) as of now. Anyway, since this is the first post, i 'm going to post two of the newest Things Change songs. I wouldn't say these songs are the best demonstration of my sound, but i hope you like them anyway. Both are very chill.
